ANI210 Animation Studio Week 9

This week started with disappointment, because I was waiting for the audio students come to our class as they said in their presentation last week, but they all went to game presentation, actually I’ve worked out and almost pretty much done my storyboard too but anyway that’s OK because I’ve been contacted by the game team for the Overdriven project.

The reason why I said yes to them because there was lot’s of cool cars to model pretty excited but need to model 6-8 different cars, that’s actually big job to do and as I’m working for our obstacle course project too, so pretty hard to do because I don’t have much time left as I need to polish some other stuff too for exhibition. In Overdriven, I’m the only animator, which is quite challenging, but I’m hopeful to give my job accurate and on time. The art bible and the Ghantt chart have been received.

My obstacle course project is going well. The character I’ve chosen is Charlie Chaplin, working on maya is a little hard for me, I think it’s because I’m used to of 3ds max. I have downloaded few reference images of Charlie Chaplin the way he walked and move, so hopefully will match the key poses.

ANI210 Animation Studio Week 8

I’ve completed my personal project character and it’s almost done, I’ve completed my modelling, UV unwrap and texture so from now if I have time I will complete the story boarding and animate. My plan is to animate with some funny dance move.

I was looking some good reference images on the internet and the I found this and that makes me inspire to model and animate.

Then after got the reference image my 2nd job was to model according to this reference image and this is a low poly model .

After complete my modelling job, I have to do UV mapping so that I can do the texturing. and this is the first time I’ve done UV mapping in a correct way.

Texturing is the hardest job for me because I don’t have a very strong background of drawings, but so far this it looks much much better and the feedback I’ve received it’s all positive.

Now the last of this project was to animate my character it will look in the rig, so yeah this time overall I’ve done really hard work and it looks amazing. I’ve tested my rig and work fine but I’m thinking of some  funny dance move or comedy kind of storyboarding with this character but let see it’s all depends on how I can manage my time because I need to finish my other projects too.

There is some stretch reference video:

This week we attended Audio students pitches which were pretty good and I’m thinking of collaborating with them for that I’ve pretty much done my homework what exactly I’ve to do. I’m thinking of visualise  that music with particle, but in different style I’m thinking of the little story in the background and that would be pretty basic one like half of the screen is reserved for the visual music beat in circles and on top of that I need to collect few clips like dancing lady or fast moving city or moving stuff, but that will appear in particles form with the different colors and sync with music. It’s a pretty hard job, but I’m ready to do, I’ve already started a bit of work so let see what kind of music comes for me.

The next project is an obstacle course, this week we need to do keying in flash. I’m thinking of Charlie Chaplin character for my obstacle project.

ANI210 Animation Studio Week 7

This week is the slowest week so far, but completed my yellow Diamond character and pretty satisfied too, because it’s under the 1000 tri’s budget and I’ve completed my character in 750 tri’s.

The next task is UV mapping for my character, UV mapping is the 3D modeling process of projecting a 2D image to a 3D model’s surface. The above two pictures showed how my model covered with checkered patterns, this is actually UV mapping is done. If all your checkered patterns are equally same size then it’s assure that there will be no stretching happen in texture and it will looks smooth. Texturing is the next job, Texture mapping is a method for adding detail, surface texture (a bitmap or raster image), or color to a computer-generated graphic or 3D model. In the last if you need your character could move easily or animate your character we need to rig our character with the Rigging method. So yeah my character is all rigged and ready for pose for the presentation. I’ve already upload on sketchfeb as well.

This week I’ve started my own project as well, which is a 3d character first I was thinking of modelling a character like Johny bravo kind of character, but I’ve found a model sheet on google and I really like it so I’ve decided to model this character and to do animate that character too.

KPIs meeting went well, few of the points I ticked masterful and I was not sure why I did it, but anyway few in KPIs few things i need to improve in the future and need more focus on it.

ANI210 Animation Studio Week 6

This week I’ve focused more on my Character project. I’ve completed my yellow diamond character with texture and also finished the rigging process as well.

I’ve tried to make sure that my rig and all its bones naming conventions are according to all the appropriate standards the I’ve learned. Rigging is the hardest part after the texturing but I’m satisfied with my rig.

I’m quite happy with my modelling, I added more curve in my model, but didn’t lose her pointy sharp look so it looks much better than before.

Rapid Project Screening

The rapid project presentation went really well, we received amazing feedback from our teachers and from the audio students too. Our project was perfectly balanced with animation, sound, effects, nothing was really over and our project was in the 30 second budget, so overall we’ve received good feedback from all of the students and teaching staff. Everyone has done their best work in this project, we’ve very good coordination throughout this project and I think we succeeded in our project but let see how the marks ended up.

Here is the link of our Rapid Pong project.

Camera Test

After the project, I’ve done my camera test which went well too. I’ve set up the tripod and build the camera with battery and memory card and attached to the tripod, then turn my camera on and put it in manual mode. He asked me a few questions about the shutter speed, white balance. I took a few pictures to show how it works and then formatted the card.

  • The shutter speed is the unit of measurement which determines how long shutter remains open as the picture is taken.
  • F-stops affect the depth of field in your pictures and the amount of light entering your lens.
  • The camera’s ISO setting is its sensitivity to light. The higher the ISO, the more sensitive it is. This is measured according to international standards, so ISO 100 on one camera will be exactly the same as ISO 100 on another.

The four functions of the lens are;

  1. Zoom
  2. Focus
  3. Iris
  4. Auto/manual
  • Put the camera on video mode and hold the info button until I get the information.
  • I safely pack back the camera and tripod.
